Small Bombs
Rain showers are going to bring the summertime into a lazy scattering of lenticular clouds over the mountain, with a smokeshow haze of hot air brought West by the wildfires. And we will sit and fry next to the Puget Sound and try to soak in as much of the salty breeze as it can promise. On the Fourth of July, we'll explode our feelings into small bombs in the name of freedom but wonder if we still have any of it left. Camping will start a few weeks later and we will pretend we live in tents, if only for a moment, when our neighbors live in them every day that the sun does rise. We'll eat popsicles or drink beer on hot days and we will hail our AC systems but forget the fact that we have the money to afford them. In August, the heat wave will come and maybe then, maybe then will we care about our neighbors in tents or without AC or the fact that our freedom might come at a cost that is higher than our grocery bill.
